Made to last!

Updated: Feb 1, 2019

Part of the reason why I love restoration is the history that furniture can hold and my part in helping it continue that journey. These two chairs I've been working on had been passed down to the client's family from her mother and the intention was that they would eventually be passed on to the next generation. They are really nice chairs but unfortunately the last upholstery job had left them looking a little sad over time as the upholsterer had glued on a flimsy seat box which had not taken the weight of people sitting on it over time (after all, what are chairs for!)

You can see from the photos above that the seat was sinking in and once it was stripped it was clear that it no longer had the structural support to hold weight. The clients chose a lovely fabric for upholstering and I got to work with repairing the structural issues with the chair before upholstering the seats. I think the end result looked great and will last for years to come.

Fully repaired and upholstered to last for many years to come
